#FreeSaeed campaign in photos and support the fundraising appeal
In March this year a group of refugee activists held a continuous vigil outside Villawood detention centre for several weeks and actions around the country to protest the deportation of Saeed. You can read my in-depth article about the campaign here.Saeed's case is symbolic of the arbitrary nature of the detention system. His brother, despite identical claims and coming together, was given safety and Saeed was not. Saeed was also denied the right to appeal. On the 13 August Saeed was violently deported by the Australian government back to danger in Iraq.Friends are in contact with Saeed and he is now in need of medical assistance.
